Healthy Food Swaps – Dessert!
After dinner you might like a little dessert from time to time. It’s easy when you’re in the supermarket to grab at stuff that isn’t too good for you, but if you take time and think about some smarter choices, you’ll end up with stuff that is very tasty and not too bad for you either.
Haagen-Dazs Ice cream to Oppo Salted Caramel
Ahh, ice cream. Simple, timeless classic of a dessert. The biggest problem is the amount of fats and sugar in an ice cream like Haagen-Dazs. Oppo makes an amazing tasting Salted Caramel that is low in fat and has had most of the sugar replaced by natural sweeteners like Stevia. The result? Guilt-free dessert that will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Brownie to Fibre One Brownie
Not only does this class as a great dessert, but it is also a snack that people like to have during the day. A standard chocolate brownie can have up to 466 calories, whereas Fibre One have a brownie that has just 90 calories in it. It’s a great tasting alternative.
M&S Cookies to Chocolate Chip Nairn’s
Who doesn’t love cookies? I do, and M&S have a lovely selection of cookies. But, there are over 300 calories in one of them. Nairn’s do a chocolate chip oat biscuit that not only has less calories (45 per biscuit), but also has oats which gives you extra fibre and slow-release energy. Swap them out and you don’t have to feel guilty.
Mega Desserts!
Sometimes you want a massive, decadent dessert and this usually means a heap load of calories, fat and guilt afterwards, especially if you’ve been trying hard all week to be healthy. How about these ideas?
Yoghurt + protein powder (mixed into a mousse) and Chocolate Chip Nairn’s. Mix the flavoured protein powder and 0% greek yoghurt and serve it with a couple of the oat biscuits we talked about earlier. Tastes amazing, and feels like a proper big dessert.
Oppo Salted Caramel + Fibre One Brownie. How about ice cream and a brownie? Grab a Fibre One Brownie and serve it with a few scoops of Oppo’s lovely Salted Caramel ice cream. Now that’s a dessert!
