Protein Shakes! Should I use them?
Almost every fitness magazine you see will have adverts for various protein shakes. Your local cold pressed juice shop now gives you the option to add an extra protein shot to your smoothie. And even chocolate bars like Mars and Snickers have protein versions of their chocolate! Which get you thinking whether you should use protein shakes or not?
The answer is that it depends. For some people, shakes are great. For others, it makes no difference.
Great for:
- People who are very busy and find it hard to eat enough protein throughout the day and just need a little protein boost in addition to what they are eating. They take very little preparation and can be made easily even in an office situation.
- Those with a sweet tooth. You can make desserts out of them such as mixing them with yoghurt for an incredibly tasty and nutritionally well rounded dessert.
However, shakes aren’t right for every situation.
People who eat crap diets and think drinking a shake will solve all their problems will not get much of a benefit from them. They need to be used in addition to a healthy diet and exercise regime. They’re not a miracle! Haha
