Best savoury food swaps for when those savoury cravings kick in!
It’s 3pm. Your body is having those cravings. You’ve got a packet of Walkers Crisps in your desk drawer and it’s calling to you. Do you eat it or do you swap it for something better?
Let’s have a look at some healthy snack swaps:
Bread and Hummus – swap for Carrots and low fat hummus
Bread and Hummus is an excellent snack, very tasty but a little high on carbs and fat. Instead, swap out the bread for Carrots and the hummus for a low fat version. Just as excellent, even tastier (crunchy sweet carrots!) and lower in fat. Result!
Bread and Tzatziki – swap for Cucumber and total 0% yoghurt
Bread and tzaziki is another summery snack which is high on taste. You’ve got salt, garlic, oil, vinegar and sometimes lemon in an explosion of taste. Instead, swap the bread for lovely cucumber, perfect for hot days in the office when the ac isn’t cooling you down and cool 0% yoghurt to pair with it. If you need a little flavour boost, add a small amount of rock salt to the yoghurt to taste.
Crisps – swap for Rice Cakes
Ok, this is the big one. You have your Walkers crisps calling at you still and the first two options have not tempted you. How about swapping it out for Kallo Salt and Vinegar rice cakes?
With less fat, calories and oils used, you can actually have a bigger portion (say 3-4 rice cakes) than the packet of crisps and the salt and vinegar are just as tasty as the potato snack version.
